THE MAN AND HIS LIFE

Ahmed Adnan Saygun (1907-1991) was a Turkish composer, ethnomusicologist, educator, music thinker and writer, and conductor. He had a decisive influence on the foundation of a national composition school and the institutionalization of modern music life and new musician generations in the early republican period in Turkey and afterwards. His compositorial output brings elements of traditional Turkish music culture and European music currents of his time.
